Name(s): Demi - I don’t know if he has a surname
Species: hybrid between a siderian (Metafelis lamnis) x javine (Metafelis arvalis). The two big feline species are very closely related but the siderian lives mostly in the northern hemisphere and the javine in the southern hemisphere.
Gender: male

Birthplace: probably somewhere south in the USA. Somewhere where javines live, not so far away from siderian grounds. Could be the areas that siderians call the Red grounds, Gold rock range or Death wind plains.
Birth year/date (relative to Stian’s birth year): +11

Death year (relative to Stian’s birth year): I think he reaches a reasonable age of around 110

Father:Jeffrin, a golden-brown blotched tabby javine

APPEARANCE

Appearance & reputation: A tiny little bastard – literally and figuratively. He was first nothing more than a not-accepted outcast. Later on,  he gained back the respect of many siderians, because of his knowledge about the dangerous sortal ecals.

Shoulder height: ~1,48 – approx. nearly the same size as a siderian female, but taller than an average javine male.

Physical description (compared to siderian standards, not javine standards)
He is fine and light build. Narrow back and hindquarters. The legs and back are slightly bent, giving him a a typical cat-like posture. Sternum is more pronounced than in most siderians. He has quite small paws for a siderian (but rather large for a javine). Long tail- very lively and often moving tail tip.

His head is longer, finer and slightly narrower than a siderian’s.  Has a bumpy profile like a mountain landscape. Medium sized pointy ears that follow the lines of his face and are  tilted backwards. Pronounced postorbital process and frontal bones, around the eyes – which is typical for javines. He has five deep scars in his face (and ripped ears). He has two half-broken fangs on one side and misses a few incissors, but he has somehow replaced them with sortal ecals, which gives him black teeth. Rather big, light yellow-green eyes that look cute and dark at the same time.

Black silver, dark blotched tabby with dark edge markings that are slightly lighter in the middle. ‘Marten’ effects: lighter face, throat, belly, feet and tail tip. Extension (full black eumelanin pigmentation); a small ‘cape’ from forehead to tail tip, and black coloured mane. 

Soft fur structure, but with a bit thicker hair than his brother has, so it looks a bit fuller and –sometimes- more messy. In contrast to Devin’s half-mane, he nearly has full mane (which is uncommon among javines, but more common among siderians) – going all around like a lion’s, but it’s still longest on his head and neck. He has a ridge of longer hair over his back, which is typical for javines and rare for siderians.

Jewelry & accessories: I bronze necklace that resembles the chaos-sign. And he has a huuuge collection of all kinds of ecals stored in his cave.

PERSONALITY & CHARACTER

Personality and mannerisms:
He is very good at tricking others with a very good theory of mind and manipulation skills. He has a very good memory and is good at seeing general patterns. He is bold, sarcastic and sometimes simply hilarious. He is very expressive and ‘free’ in his body language. He communicates with a lot of movements and expressions (and maybe conflict behaviours ).
He doesn’t hesitate become very nasty to achieve his goals and to protect the ones he loves (just like his brother and father do)  However as soon as things turn against him he has a bit of a cowardly attitude and always plays on safe.  The only ones he really loves are his father and brother. To others he puts up walls as high as Mount Everest. Only once, a lovely girl manages to enter his ‘mental fortress’.

Just like his brother, he is very opportunistic and takes everything he can get. He can be a bit mysterious and secretive especially about his past and or when he has some dark ideas and is plotting something. He will always follow his own ways, is hard to manipulate and stubborn.

Type of humor: Bold, to the point, sarcastic, sharp and provocative with a touch of nearly flirting flare.  

Voice, manner of speaking
Quite a soft voice with a little creeyp undertone. Nearly as if he manipulates just with his voice. He talks fast and finds his words quickly – often interrupting others.

Sexuality: not so sexual, but once a vold javine female seduced him, he knows how to do it.
Spirituality and philosophy: I don’t know his spirituality but I know that his ‘philosophy’ is to never trust anyone and never to rely on anyone.
Fears: becoming a bullied outcast again
Dreams: learning even more about sortal.    

Special skills: manipulating others and knowing how to work with the most dangerous ecal that siderians know of: sortal.

STORY

This is the summary of Jeffrin’s, Nhera’s, Demi’s and Devin’s story, without a clear PoV. 

A forbidden relation
It starts with the siderian mother Nhera , a young and explorative dare devil. Curiosity drove her to explore the javine-lands. She was just sexually mature and had a one-night stand with an equally curious and bold young, golden blotched  javine male (Jeffrin). It turned out to be more than just a one-night stand and she accidently got pregnant. However, her family and the siderian society would not accept this (bastards are  frowned upon). On the other hand, staying in the javine-lands would be equally risky. Javines kill kittens that clearly are bastards because they fear domination of siderian half-breeds. With Nhera still around to defend them, they tried to raise the twins for a few years, in javine lands. However, the situation became very tense and dangerous. Nhera and Jeffrin were arguing more and more, which could reveal the kittens’ hiding place. One day, after a terrible row, Jeffrin took the few years old kittens from their hiding place and ran away with them. Nhera had no idea where they had gone and tried everything to find them, without result. 

A struggle for survival
Jeffrin went up North, to where only Siderians live, because siderians don’t care much about bastards. He had two very young kittens to raise and since metafelines usually need two parents to raise a kitten, he had a very difficult time raising two, all alone.   He struggled to stay alive himself. It was difficult to hunt in the deep snow and the cold climate, making him and his kids nearly freezing and starving to death. However, the love for his kids kept him going. He was a fighter who never gave up; even though it felt like the whole world was against them. With his good role-playing and lying skills, he could play tricks with most siderians and steal their kills, rob their shelters and convince them that the two kittens were not his, but just two orphaned siderians he had found. He sometimes even scared his own kids with his way of acting, but when he succeeded with his tricks, he reassured them again. When the kittens grew up, it became more difficult to hide the fact that they were javine-hybrids. He used to wrap himself and his kids in pelts to stay warm and cover their blotched patterns to hide any seminaries that could reveal him as their father and worse, the kittens as bastards. They stayed close to siderian occupy empty siderian shelters… risky business. Meanwhile, they learned a lot about using metaphysics and their intelligence was very helpful in their bitter struggle for survival. As Demi and Devin grew up, they got a very strong bond with their father; he did everything for them. 

On their own
When Demi and Devin were young adolescents, their father got badly injured. It maybe happened during a hunt with a too large prey, or another siderian attacked him. He was dying and said to his sons that they should leave him behind.  He couldn’t be there for them anymore. They have to stay close together…they left their dying father,  anxious for the attacker to return and get them too. When they returned, there was no sign of their father and they moved on before they got attacked too.

It started to show more clearly that Demi and Devin actually weren’t siderians.  Their size, faces and fur were clearly javine like, which made it hard, if not impossible to live among siderians. Wherever they came, they were chased away, beaten and rejected. Their mother Nhera, still tried to get signs of her sons’ locations by using intelithos and social information of the locals and she was on track. Nhera had also found a new mate again; Rayo, a powerful and fierce male (the son of Noiro and Fury actually). Rayo was doing hidden research to a newly discovered source of the most powerful, mysterious and rare ecal, namely Sortal. Nhera asked if Rayo could help her sons by offering them safety and work in the sortal cave. This could give her a chance to come in contact with them again. The last time she saw her kids was when they were kittens of just few years old… 

Making wrong friends.
Rayo agreed and offered Demi and Devin safety, acceptance and a job at his sortal cave, which was transformed in some large underground, dungeon like laboratory. Rayo promised Nhera that they would be safe but that they could not leave because the work should be kept strictly secret.  Therefore, she was not allowed to go there either.  What Rayo actually not told Nhera, was that he was using the two brothers to perform the most dangerous experiments. He kept them strictly captive. All he needed was some desperate guys who were willing to do everything he wants. Demi and Devin were the perfect candidates. Rayo abused them, forced them to do dangerous things they didn’t want to, gave them little food and above all, no freedom. They had to stay in the dark dungeons, probably for years.

Meanwhile, Jeffrin had actually survived the attack and had recovered. He started searching for his sons again and found out that they worked for Rayo. He couldn’t trick Rayo the way he wanted, but he could get the same ‘job’ and find his sons again. Demi and Devin were happily surprised to see their father again.

A painful encounter
However, the situation in the dark laboratories became unbearable for them. The experiments became more dangerous as they progressed and their longing for freedom became unbearable.  Devin couldn’t stand it anymore and he tried to run away. Rayo trapped him and hurt him badly, making him unable escape. When Rayo left Devin helpless on the ground with a broken, bleeding right paw, Nhera desperately tried to come down to the dungeons and figure out what was happening.  All the noise worried her. She found Devin… After many, many years, she saw her son again. Now he was full grown, but skinny, and heavily injured. Devin, however, was not pleased to see her. He tried to raise himself and angrily roared that he would never, ever forgive her for leaving him. Also  Jeffrin came down (he was kept captive too) . He threatened Nhera that if she did not leave them immediately, she would never be able to see her beloved Rayo again. He too, was hard to her, leaving Nhera heartbroken… She never had a chance to explain her part of the story, and now knowing that her current mate Rayo (she already had a kitten with Rayo…) has betrayed her and maimed her sons, she was confused and devastated. 

Plotting revenge
Devin’s paw healed more or less but the overall situation got worse…until Demi and Devin were so desperate that they started plotting a dark plan. Also Demi got terribly beaten by Rayo – resulting in a big scar on his face.  They were not exactly the bravest guys, but through their forced experiments they learned to use the mysterious and powerful ecal, sortal, rather well. Rayo didn’t know about their intelligence and all the lessons about ecals that their father had taught them. Rayo had never expected that those two cowardly bastards were up to such a thing. They planned to kill Rayo and everybody involved with the sortal experiments, thereby taking a monopoly position on the knowledge about sortal. Rayo’s threat to kill Demi and Devin’s father if did dot not do their work properly, was the trigger to blow up Rayo’s shelter and all other ‘bosses’, in the right moment, through genius use of sortal.  

Masters of black power.
Their plan worked and Rayo and the most important siderians who worked for him were dead. Now, Demi and Devin were only ones among metafelines with enough knowledge of- and experience with sortal to use it. Sortal is a very rare and unknown ecal; the siderians who do know it, fear it. Only one old and scarred master, Eldur from the Island of Ice and Fire, had experimented with it as well. He abandoned his practice because it was too dangerous for him and siderian-kind in general. He knew that one little accident with sortal could be deadly. During their experiments, Demi and Devin have probably contacted him and learned more. The fact that sortal caused so much fear among siderians, gave Demi and Devin suddenly quite some respect and power. The temptation to take advantage of that was only growing. They have always been outcasts and been rejected as bastards.  Power is something completely unfamiliar for them. Now they have it, they wanted to send a clear message to all who had mistreated them before. One should not mess with them any longer.

Demi and Devin, joined by their father (who stayed more at the background), took over the whole sortal cave where they originally were working for Rayo and established their permanent territory there. They built their own ‘fortress’ and continued experimenting. They both started collecting other rare ecals and objects in order to increase their control over sortal and so slowly over other siderians. They asked steep prices for anything they made possible with sortal. Especially Demi was tricking siderians into making deals with him they would later regret. Demi was not afraid to kill the ones that were in his way and he became dreaded and feared, but also well respected among siderians. Devin’s practice was much was more ’under the skin’. With his more calm and gentle personality, he could get whatever he wanted. But also Devin could send a clear message not to mess with him any longer – despite his permanent limp and otherwise fragile appearance.

With their dark business, they started inventing more metaphysical systems and got a lot of influence on the siderian social information network called intellithos. With hacking the system, they could overhear nearly every place where intellithos systems are installed and maybe even pop-up in kind of 3D equivalent of skype with holograms.  They may even have made deals with Stian, the General of the human-fighting Fjordland Force.   

Later in life, both Demi and Devin found a mate. Devin will fell in love with a very nice, jolly and impressive sideress named Krisda. She didn’t about the fact that he was a hybrid and she just fell for his humour, gentle and inspiring appearance and yet his hidden, but still present dark side. They even have gotten kids later on and Devin decided to use his inspiring appearance in a role as teacher for young siderian cubs. Using his rather expressive way of acting and enormous knowledge of metaphysics in teaching cubs, made him actually happier than manipulating others into dealing with him.

 Demi eventually fell in love with a bold Javine girl named Tatra. She keeps him mostly on an honest track and prevented him from become as ‘evil’ as his old master Rayo once was. Despite the fact that both found a partner, they always stayed close as brothers on the same territory until they eventually moved on at a reasonably high age….
