APPEARANCE

Appearance & reputation: a goofy giant who is pretty much friends with everyone.
Known as someone who always brings a positive mood with his humor. As a kid and especially a teenager, he was more known as the metacluster coordinator’s little rascal. He was borderline unacceptably naughty.

Shoulder height
: 1,80 m – the second tallest siderian that I know of (to compare: average males are 1,6 m at the shoulder)
Physical description

Body: Very long lined with long and rather fine bones; as if you take a normal sized siderian and just stretch them until you get Falkner’s size.  Square shaped body with a lynx-like spine. He’s rather lean which accentuated his lanky appearance. Large paws with long and fine digits. Two extra 'dewclaws' on his feet. He also has a mutation in the hox-d13 gene, so his tail is twice the length compared to normal. He has a long, thin and high placed neck. Narrow and small chest. Overall he looks a bit out of proportion, long thin and lanky which is partly covered up by thick fur.

Gait: Energetic and flexible gait with long and somewhat elevated steps. He’s often a bit bouncy and makes big moves. He doesn’t always have his long limbs under perfect control and can therefore stumble clumsily. He can run rather fast but he due to his lanky body, his acceleration is rather slow.

Head: Pretty long and triangular shaped head. Very large and lateral placed pointy ears ('air-plane' ears) Ears point backwards and sideward. Muzzle is pretty long, narrow and round; a bit rat-like. Pretty straight profile with a little dip between the eyes and slightly convex curve near the nose. Somewhat narrow, slanting and high placed eyes, which stand close together and are deep blue colored. He is very slightly cross-eyed. Narrow but pronounced round chin. Due to the narrow lower-jaw, he only had 5 incisors instead of 6. Upper-jaw is broader with very pronounced incisors. His upper canines are often a bit visible due to his tight lips.

Color and Fur: Black with a bit of a cold dark blue sheen, (pale) yellow in his face, throat, feet and underside of his tail (the color of a yellowish tiger). Hair structure is pretty spiky and standing outward. He has a ridge of hair over the middle on his head, forming a mohawk. Another row of standing hair in front of his ears, following the line of the mandible (under jaw). Three ridges of long standing, spiky hair on his throat, two directed lateral and one ventral (hanging downward). Ridge of standing hair at the backsides of the his arms and legs (ankles). Hair structure is pretty thick and sturdy with nearly whisker-like guard hairs.

Jewelry & accessories: he doesn’t wear anything and he may have some special ecal readers, but overall, he’s not so focused on material possessions.

PERSONALITY & CHARACTER

Personality and mannerisms
:

MBTI personality type: ESFP – A (Extrovert – Sensing – Feeling – Perceiving, the Assertive type)
He’s almost always happy, cheerful, playful and hyper energetic (like a siderian with ADHD). He’s very social, needs frequent contact with other siderians and loves being in the center of attention. He hardly ever shuts up and is often talkative and full of positivity. He’s socially very adaptive and wants to understand and respect others for how they are. You can drop him in any social situation and he would manage to make friends.

He can be a bit ‘in your face’ but he knows when to keep his distance with those who are shy and intimidated by his tall, energetic appearance. Although, I think he can be quite overwhelming with his goofiness and not all siderians appreciate his rather bombastic behavior – although in most cases, he senses when he needs to calm down and back off. He’s good at breaking tension and solving conflicts with his humor but some might find him too unserious.

He is quite mischievous, has a good sense of humor and likes making sarcastic jokes. He’s quite macho and dominant when he’s with other males and bluffs a lot about his masculinity. But in fact, he’s quite shy about intimacy and he hid the fact that he was a virgin until he met Yava. In a serious partnership relation, he's actually quite submissive and he sees sex as something very private and intimate.

His humoristic nature and constant need to find something funny, made him quite a rascal when he was a cub; he was naughty and was constantly looking for trouble. Even as an adult, he kept some these tendencies but uses them now in a more playful, respectful way.  When he’s really in a crazy mood, he has the weird habit to climb in trees, throw pine cones at others and sing stupid songs with all kinds of random insults and curse words....No matter how old or tall he is, he always stays young in his mind.

Although, when the situation demands it, he can be serious as well. But even then, he will find the slightest opportunity to throw in a joke. Even in stressful situations, he tries to bring in his positive influence. Despite his occasional macho behavior and bluffing, he’s quite emotionally sensitive; particularly to loss of loved ones and insecurities regarding his own health. These are the few things that can flip his happiness into (border-line) depression. Despite his confidence, he can feel quite some guilt and regret when he had accidentally hurt someone or made a serious mistake.

He’s quite good with cubs and particularly adolescents, which makes him a very good trainer, teacher or role-model. He also has a quiet side that he only discovered after he met his mate Yava. She taught him how to calmly absorb the living world around him and truly feel serenity.

Type of humor: all kinds of jolly humor. He has a typical manly goofiness. Can be sarcastic and is downright mischievous. Humor is such an integral part of his personality that I described most of it above.

Voice, manner of speaking
Pretty low masculine voice with a little ‘scratch’ in it. He often sounds happy, jolly and goofy.  He changes intonation quite a bit and uses quite some curse words and insults – especially when he’s being macho with his friends.

Some songs of MetallicA are actually a 100% match. Even the way of singing and the word-choice just feels exactly like Falkner. It’s rare that I find such a good 1 to 1 voice reference for someone…these songs cover Falkner’s voice and way of talking perfectly.

Sexuality: hetero (demi) sexual – he may joke about sex and talks macho about it but he’s actually is quite shy with it himself and restricts the activity only to his partner.

Spirituality and philosophy: “Nothing is that bad that it’s not good for something.” Always look from the bright side. He doesn’t come across as specifically spiritual himself and he’s not so strongly connected with other beings than siderians. He’s quite down-to-Earth himself and doesn’t have a particular spirituality yet himself, although he’s very interested in getting to know other’s worldviews and spiritualties and throughout life, he becomes closer to Spirits of Nature.

Aesthetics: Falkner aesthetics

Fears: he’s quite confident and fearless yet the one thing that can push him into depression is loss of loved ones; his sister, mate and kids in particular. He intensely fears death and since he has no strong spirituality himself, he’s quite afraid of the unknown. His occasional health issues can quickly worry him especially if he doesn’t know what it is.

Dreams: Seeing his sister back…Otherwise he is pretty much living his dream and is quite a happy fellow. Even the battle activities seem to give him some thrill.

Interest, hobbies, occupation:

He has a special interest in lightning and electricity fascinates him. With that interest, he learned quite a lot about how to work with electricity related ecals like lynal. That came in handy when he joined the Fjordland Force later in life. Before that, he didn’t really have any special activity or interest that he was very devoted to, other than making friends and socializing.

Later in life, he discovered that he’s very good with kids and especially adolescents. Where most siderians get annoyed by teenagers, he managed to bring forth the cutest, most tender side of the worst rascals. He became a good trainer, coach and teacher wherever he was needed and loved playing with youngster, no matter his age.

Special skills: being very social and always bringing in a good atmosphere. He managed so calm down most conflicts with his social insight and tall leader-appearance.

STORY

The cluster coordinator’s son
Falkner grew up as the son of the coordinator of the largest siderian metacluster* in the world.  He was mostly living with his mother Niska and younger sister Sirine. Only occasionally, he was visited by his mighty father Atilla and uncle Antero. Falkner took a lot of his personality and look from his mom and was as jolly and playful as her. He had a close relation with his little sister and together, they were quite naughty rascals. Their mother was entertained by their behavior and let her cubs be themselves. Atilla was not always pleased with his cubs’ bold and naughty behavior since he had to uphold his reputation as decent coordinator. Little Falkner liked to get attention and he found it a kick to do the things that he knew, were not allowed by the adults. His sister was as bold as him and together, they formed a mischievous team.

The naughty rascal
When Falkner and Sirine came to the learning ground, to meet other cubs and learn from adults, he befriended Niver and they formed a notorious naughty trio. Niver was shyer but Falkner often pulled him over. Falkner had a good childhood without much worries. Occasionally, he heard exciting stories from his father; stories about arctians and rebellious siderians fighting over their lands and principles. He was intrigued by these stories and couldn’t resist the temptation to see for himself what was going on with these strangers. He and his friends had either accidentally or deliberately provoked them and ended up in trouble. Fortunately Atilla was around and solved the problem in time. In the few rare moments that he was not having fun with friends, he developed a strong interest in lightning and electricity based ecals.

As an adolescent, he became quite popular among similar aged siderians. He made many friends and at the same time, he was getting even worse with his naughtiness and his foremost activity was to find creative ways to break the rules. Many found him ‘cool’ and ‘badass’ and were inspired by his boldness which further stimulated his growing macho behaviour. He had particularly targeted teachers and other ‘important’ adults to bully. He also provoked some of the local arctian prides with ‘jokes’ that he and his friends found funny but that weren’t received well by the arctians themselves. His father was not pleased with this bullying, irresponsible provocative teenager-behavior and regularly gave him thunder-speeches. Despite some jokes that went a bit out of hand, Falkner never had bad intends and never willingly hurt others – although he often didn’t notice it when he accidentally hurt someone with his jokes. If he did, he tired to make up for his mistakes and showed his more empathic side.

In wrong claws
However, one of his jokes didn’t turn out the way he wanted. A group of ‘rebellious’ siderians, who didn’t agree with Atilla’s way of coordinating the cluster, captured adolescent Falkner and kept him as a hostage for a while. If Atilla was not going to listen, they threatened to kill Falkner. Usually, he was quite fearless and bold, but now he understood that the situation was very serious and he felt intense fear for his life. At first, he didn’t really believe his captors but the more they tightened the grip, the more he realized that his life was truly at stake. Thanks to some serious negotiation and probably fighting, his father got him out but the consequence was another proper thunder-speech and strict supervision by his father and uncle as a punishment.

This experience had at least some effect on him and in the years after, he learned to be a bit more careful and more ‘decent’. He approached adulthood (early twenties), which calmed down his worst naughtiness yet his mischievous nature was always right under the surface. He got closer to his father and learned more about the coordination business. Atilla tried to educate him and Sirine to become cluster coordinators as well, but Falkner quickly figured that this was nothing for him. One of the rebels that Atilla had to deal with was the notorious Rayo Siyotès, son of the mysterious Noiro Siyotès, who was said to lurk around like a shadows, spying for Rayo. Rumors said that siderians have mysteriously disappeared after Noiro had been sighted. It made Falkner quite curious but his previous experience taught him to be more careful and he mostly stayed out of these tensions and focus on having more innocent fun with his friends and sister.

Loss of his sister
He was around 30 when his sister Sirine got seriously ill. Her health was falling back rapidly and none of the healers found a cure that worked. Over the course of a few months, she only weakened and weakened (I think that she suffered from a rather aggressive form of cancer or another rather acute deadly disease). Falkner was devastated to see his sister suffer and stayed at her side for as much as he could, trying to cheer her up. But when she passed away, Falkner fell in a period of near-depression. Despite the support from his friends and parents, he felt quite lonely. His one and only full sibling was gone. It took him months of mourning before his old, playful and positive-minded self, started to come back again.  This loss brought him even closer to his friends, Niver in particular. He found a gentler, understanding and empathic side in him that he didn’t realize was there. It made him overthink his past and he even regretted some of the things that he had previously considered as funny but which may accidentally have hurt someone.

The battle for Mystery Mountain
Many of his similar aged friends were finding mates now and Falkner tried flirting a bit as well but without much success, since this form of intimacy made him feel surprisingly awkward. It frustrated him quite a bit, given his highly social nature. As he approached his forties, other worries welled up. The rebels, led by Rayo Siyotès were gathering and he heard that they were planning an attack on the cluster coordinators (Atilla, Antero and a few others). The threat was serious, and Atilla was preparing them all for a big battle to settle the conflicts once and for all. The last thing that Falkner liked to do was fighting other siderians and (siderian-related) arctians. Reluctantly, he obeyed his parents and joined. Atilla had undermined the rebels’ plans to attack them sneakily and challenged them in an open confrontation on the plateau. It may have been one of the biggest battles in the recent history of Mystery Mountain. Falkner and his parents survived but his uncle Antero had fallen, along with many others. Even Rayo had survived but fell victim to mutiny and was killed by his own followers not long after.

Not all turbulence was over after this battle, but the worst tension dissolved and Falkner tried to pick up his old life-style again. He still had many good friends and was having fun but he had also been thinking seriously about what to do with his life and he hadn’t really found an answer yet. Some of his own oversexed macho-jokes made him realize again he had never really been with a sideress and the way that he was bluffing about it, gave him a nagging feeling under the skin. The need to find a mate welled up but he hadn’t found someone matching yet and the shyness regarding love and serious flirting kept bothering him.

Visitors from the Fjordlands
The arrival of interesting Fjordlanders brought him some distraction from the nagging feelings. He was curious why they had come all the way here. One of them, a big white guy, came to speak about humans as a serious threat for siderians. Falkner was never really bothered by humans. They didn’t live close to the metacluster and they were way too scared of siderians to come close. But the Fjordlander’s stories sounded genuine and he had convincing evidence. Amongst those strangers, he spotted a tall off-black sideress with a curious magpie like sheen and an elegant, yet playfully rough long coat. He was immediately attracted to her but didn’t dare to approach her. Silently, he watched her while his own hormones ran wild. Once he had collected to courage to talk to her, he felt that they formed a good match and he was intrigued by her personality and family background. The interest got mutual and he was surprised by just how smooth this went and how quickly they formed a loving couple.

Her name was Yava and she was one of the Fjordlanders who had come here to spread awareness of this global human-problem. Her cousin, Stian had tried to recruit siderians to fight against humans, together with them. However, not many local siderians were interested and the Fjorldanders planned to head back to their homelands. Falkner felt torn; he wanted to join Yava and the love for her was strong but he was hesitant to leave his dear friends and family behind. He decided to go and after some difficult farewells he joined Yava to start a new adventure and a new life far away from his homelands. He had promised his mother and best friend Niver to visit them or invite them over (despite the months of travel time) and he tried to remain in contact over ecals (some sort of siderian equivalent of internet). Once arrived in the Fjordlands, Falkner quickly made new friends and integrated well in the new environment and culture. He was particularly fond of Goran (Stian’s brother) and also loosely befriended Stian himself (who is quite cold and distant) – who seemed surprisingly entertained by Falkner’s goofiness.

A new life
As soon as they arrived in the Fjordlands, Stian recruited more siderians for this fighting group to defend the lands against humans; a problem that was far worse here than in Falkner’s homelands. Yava got pregnant and not long after the first fighting plans were sat up, the twins were born; a nearly white female whom they named Winther and a nearly black male whom they named Falco. Stian moved north to plan the first missions while Yava and Falkner stayed on Yava’s homelands with their newborn cubs. However, when the news came that Stian had been shot on his newly established territory in the North, Yava and Falkner moved there along with others of Yava’s family to support the growing fighting group. Stian recovered, but the problem was serious enough that both Yava and Falkner decided to actively participate in the missions from now on. The group (which got the name Fjordland Force) was quickly growing as more siderians saw the necessity to stop humans from killing siderians and invade their lands. Falkner thrived with all the social contacts but the seriousness of the problems made him a bit hesitant to engulf in his usual goofiness. He had become a more serious grown-up now, especially now that he was a father.

Raising three kids
The cubs grew fast and Winther took a lot of him. She was as naughty, bold and playful and Falkner enjoyed teaching her tricks and dirty words – to the point that Yava got concerned, especially since their much quieter son Falco was often the target of his sister’s teasing. The Fjordland Force’s missions got quite serious and many more siderians from the Lowlands had joined. Falkner and Yava kept their cubs safe in the main camps as the Force moved from location to location. Their third cub, Torstein, was born a few years later when the Force entered a quieter period. Falkner had some difficulties connecting to his third kid as he grew up; he was quiet and quickly intimidated by Falkner’s goofiness – even more so than Falco who would still join the games once in a while.

Meanwhile, Falkner had found his new role as teacher of youngsters and trainer of newcomers in the Fjordland Force. He had made many new friends and thrived in the social environment, despite the stress associated with missions. He enjoyed the nomadic lifestyle when they were on missions, even though he was quite home-bound before. He still tried to uphold the contact with his mother and old friends although the contact with Niver faded a bit. When he heard that his mother had fallen ill, he wanted to visit her but she passed away before he even had even started the long travel. He felt bad about not having visited her earlier but his new life here had kept him too occupied. He tried not to dwell on the guilt feeling, although it kept stinging him under the skin.

Mission associated turbulence
He was 57 when Yava joined an expedition with a subdivision of the Force. Falkner stayed behind with Winther and Falco (13 years old now) and Torstein (7 years).  Without Yava’s occasional discipline and her pulling the brakes on Falkner’s bombastic behavior, he took the opportunity to have a lot of fun with Winther. He barely realized that his two sons didn’t always enjoy it much. He found little Torstein particularly difficult to comfort when Yava was away. He was glad when Yava returned but they experienced some frictions regarding Falkner’s way of having fun, especially when he intimidated the boys too much. Although he was easily carried away, he tried to include them too.

The heaviness of the missions came closer when his friend Goran got injured by humans and when Yava’s grandfather Matthias got shot and died not long after. The missions had gotten intense and Matthias was not the only siderian who had fallen. Falkner tried to remain positive and cheer others up but the severity and hardship was eating on him. Especially when the guy whom his son Falco was dating, had disappeared and probably died as well. No matter what Falkner and Yava tried, his son was inconsolable. A few years later, Winther and Falco decided to leave to the homelands of Winther’s mate Kieran and help the locals there to start up a similar fighting force. Falkner was proud to see his kids reach independence but was saddened by their leaving. However, now could spend more quality time with Yava and focus on the relation with his youngest son Torstein who was now an adolescent. Torstein was still much closer to Yava and Falkner wondered what he did wrong as a father. However, when Torstein reached adulthood, he developed an interest in Falkner’s work as teacher and trainer – which brought them a lot closer together. It really relieved Falkner to see some subtle goofiness bloom in his son and they even hunted a lot more often together.

Proud grandfather
Meanwhile, Winther had announced the birth of her first cub Kjeld. When her second son Khean was born two years later, Falkner, Yava and Torstein went to the Balkan area to visit them and enjoy family life. Falco had also found a mate; a handsome guy named Raldimir and he was incredibly proud of all his kids and grandkids. Unfortunately, they couldn’t stay long since the Force was planning some serious missions in the south of the Fjordlands which they wanted to join. The following years were intense with missions and the intensity of the suffering that Falkner witnessed, challenged his positive nature. Especially when Siri (the daughter of Yava’s close cousin Stian) and her mate had died in battle and left their young cub Tiba behind. The return of Winther, Falco and their families brought some positivity back and he was incredibly glad to have them back. The Force had moved north again which allowed Falkner and Yava to spend some quiet time on their homelands. However, stress was not over – Stian got shot again during a small scouting mission and Yava (a healer) had to fight for his life. The recovery time was long and the missions were on hold for a while. Falkner used that time enjoy the time with his mate, (grand) kids and friends as much as he could.

When they were back in MistFjord, to prevent humans from re-establishing their settlement, he was delighted to see how his youngest son Torstein (who was in his early thirties now) had finally found a mate in the pretty sideress named Zita. Torstein had stayed close with both Falkner and Yava until far into adulthood and Falkner sometimes wondered when his son would finally grow up. Still, Torstein didn’t leave his parents but just brought his mate along everywhere. The missions around MistFjord weren’t without risks either and Falco’s mate Raldimir was badly injured, yet made it through thanks to the good care of the healers.

Fall of the General

The Force had moved North again and the mission intensity had gone down to only scouting here and there. It was a good time for the birth of Falkner’s third grandchild; Lydia – the first born daughter of Torstein and Zita. However, nobody had expected what happened a year later. General Stian was shot dead during a small scouting mission near an abandoned human-settlement. His mate Yava was very close to Stian and the death of her beloved cousin hit her hard. So did it for his friend Goran (Stian’s brother).

Falkner not only saw this as the death of the General but also as the death of a friend. The Fjordland Force was never the same without Stian and Falkner tried to support Yava and Goran wherever he could. Many siderians of the Force gathered to pay their last tribute to the fallen General.

Stian’s daughter Ekster had taken over the Force after she recovered from her own injuries.  Ekster’s strategies were even bolder and more risky than Stian’s. She was fueled by hatred and intensified the efficiency of the missions by recruiting most of the patrols into the fighting groups. Falkner didn’t want to get himself involved in her strategies yet he couldn’t help but feel unsafe from to time. He shared this concern with Yava and his kids. Yet Ekster’s strategies were quite successful and the Force had safeguarded the Fjordlands rather well. She focused her efforts on collaborating with other Forces and expanded the focus areas beyond the Fjordlands. Falkner, Yava and even all of their kids joined the subdivision that went to the Balkan area (where Kieran and Raldimir came from). Meanwhile, Falkner was struggling quite a bit with his health. He had always been rather sensitive to infections and struggled with dental/back/joint problems before, but it had become quite an issue as age crept up with him (he was in his 90ties which corresponds with late 60ties in humans).

Age catching up

When they returned to the Fjordlands after a few years, Falkner wasn’t feeling fit anymore. He tried to keep up with the Force since Yava, Winther, Torstein and occasionally Falco were still active in most missions. However, he was feeling increasingly tired and was losing weight to the point that he had no alternative than to retreat himself. Healers, including his own mate, tried to help him but his health didn’t improve and they found out that he suffered from a cancer that they couldn’t cure. Death had always scared him and the realization that his end was drawing near hit him very hard. Still, he tried to remain positive and playful as he had always been but as the pain got worse, he struggled to keep his spirits up. His mate and kids helped him wherever possible, especially when he was getting too weak to hunt for himself. His usual positive, goofy spirit faded away along with his body that was barely more than skin and bones. Fear of death still made him afraid from time to time but he had accepted his fate and drew comfort from his mate and children’s love and care. When he felt the end coming, he expressed one more time just how proud he was of his mate and each one of his beautiful children. He couldn’t have wished for any better…

*Metaclusters: are places where crystallized underground pathways come together and where large metaphysical crystals reach the surface. Siderians made use of them as energy sources to build their own communication and energy network around these crystal clusters. The population density around metaclusters is usually much higher than elsewhere and they have more facilities (places where they come together to teach each other, give medical care or trade)- although it’s often really small scaled compared to human settlements.
