Description

I was very inspired by this drawing of Mudstar-Sibera

The traditional art was a nice challenge and I like the outcome...though my digital work looks more spectacular I think. And I don't like the texture of the paper...it ruins the details and didn't go well with pencil. Anyway done with waterproof fine liners, water colour, coloured pencils and white acrylics.

Anyway, for the Yin-Yang idea, I picked two opposites...that do unite their powers; once after a quite some struggling.
Stian and his 9 years older brother Goran (both siderians; big -nearly horse sized- tiger-oriental cat like felines).

I wanted to add some symbolic, more spiritual feeling, so I have decided not to show their jewellery and show Goran with his natural hair (haven't removed his piercings though...that felt too off). Their energies -represented as the Northern Lights and Ice+Snow- surround them and unite the two brothers together...They share quite some history and Stian is not always so fond of his not-mannered elder brother, though Goran cares a lot about Stian and in the end, that brings them very close - srry spoiler for the upcoming books. Goran will be a one of the most important point of view character from beginning until the very end and he finally decided to invade my brain and reveal much more about himself. Finally...because I need him and he needs more attention from me. He will get a sketch-dump as big as Stian's :plotting: You can find some sketches of him already on my tumblr reignofsiderians.tumblr.com/

Anyway, they are opposite in nearly everything (Stian to the left, Goran to the right);
- white - black
- well mannered - not mannered at all
- a determined fighter - a careless nonchalant f*cker
- lacking empathy - having quite some hidden empathy
- left handed - right handed
- active - lazy
-  very curious- appears disinterested in everything
- polite - unsubtle and swears a lot
- deep inside: turbulent - deep inside: rock solid
- thinking and planning everything - naive
- tidy and neat - messy and chaotic
- asocial and cold - not so asocial as he appears...
- doesn't care about others, never helps - can be helpful and encouraging- in his own unsubtle nonchalant way.
- talks in proper grammar (though as few words as possible) - pronounces things weird and talks in grammar that's slightly off (in siderian language though!)
- appears quite intelligent - appears quite stupid
- risk taking, sometimes reckless - quite self-preservative and wiser in that sense.
- has a talent to end up in trouble - has a talent NOT to end up in trouble
- prefers to hang around alone in the 'country site'- hangs around in metaclusters to flirt (and more) with random ladies though Stian had his 'needs' too,  especially before he met his mate Vivanna...

Now I sum this up, I wonder how they can be brothers...but if you see their parents, you might understand XD. In anatomy they don't differ much though (except for the ears and eyes).

Suggestions for improvement on the technique and such is welcome, since I'm quite a noob on traditional art I think...

..wait, whats that? noob at traditional art?
BLASPHEMY

This looks awesome, and that for someone who doesn't do traditional art often :faint: Alike with the drawing of Starlight the linework is really sleek and used n the right places to create depth in the fur. especially in the neck-fur of both guys the structure of the fur and the reflined look :wow:  The anatomy is outstanding as always, I especially love the details in the back legs with the vains and tendons  the shading, shine and coloring once again is amazing, Goran in particular looks so good it looks almost exactly like your digital work :wow: :faint:  that is difficult to achieve with these materials, but there you go and just whoop do it :omg:
The meaning and symbolism here is really nice as well and the composition isn't something I have seen you do before. ^^

the only thing I could say is that the texture of the paper indeed gets in the way. I dunno why they have it like this but a lot of watercoloring kinds of paper have a very rough texture and usually it looks quite bad O.o ( I work on bristol paper, which is a bit pricy but it has a very smooth surface and is quite thick so it can take a beating. just wish they had bigger sizes then A3 cause I plan to work on larger paper, need more space XD) But that is not an issue with your drawing skill but the paper, I'm impressed you managed to get this as good as you did even when working with rough paper :wow:
